Our mission is to provide primary health care and preventative health education for the residents of Pierce and St. Croix Counties who have no health care alternative. The Free Clinic of Pierce and St. Croix Counties has two part-time staff and more than 130 dedicated volunteers, including physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and social workers. We are able to see up to 25 patients who are seeking medical care, in addition to other patients who come in for prescription refills, educational materials or blood pressure checks. The Clinic offers preventative health care, including prescription assistance. Health care providers at the Clinic not only treat the illnesses that bring patients to its doors, but also make every effort to work with the patients to ensure their continued heath. Some of the patients served only need the clinic for a short time – they are between jobs and use us to help bridge the gap. Other patients have a more permanent need for our care, and the Clinic staff and volunteers work with them to secure needed medications, manage chronic illnesses, and improve health. When needed, volunteer interpreters assist patients with language barriers.
